CVScene Founder Beta
Founder Beta privacy notice
This notice explains how LJMUK Ltd uses personal information when you apply to the CVScene Founder Beta. LJMUK Ltd is the controller for this Founder Beta application information.
This notice covers the Founder Beta application and early-access process only. It does not cover CVScene product use after access is released. Applying, qualifying or being selected for the Founder Beta does not by itself create a CVScene account or give you access to the CVScene product.
For privacy questions or requests, email privacy@cvscene.app.
What information we collect
When you apply, we collect:
- your name and email address;
- when you are applying for roles;
- the broad role/function, career stage and industry/domain you are targeting;
- the job market/location you are applying in;
- whether you will apply in English;
- whether you have a CV;
- your current application situation;
- if you choose to tell us, what you find most difficult about applying and whether you are changing career direction;
- your acceptance of the Founder Beta participation expectations and when that acceptance was recorded; and
- operational information needed to administer the application, such as the privacy-notice version shown to you, your application/qualification status and decision information, selection information if applicable, and record timestamps.
The Founder Beta application does not ask you to provide your CV, a vacancy or job description, salary, date of birth, gender, ethnicity, health or disability information, family status or a photograph. Please do not include this information in privacy correspondence unless it is necessary for your request.
Why we use your information
We use this information to:
- receive and administer Founder Beta applications;
- contact applicants about the Founder Beta and early-access process;
- apply the published eligibility rules;
- select and administer a useful, controlled Founder Beta cohort; and
- manage the application lifecycle and privacy requests.
Our lawful basis for this processing is our legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f). Our legitimate interest is to recruit and administer a small cohort of genuine jobseekers so that LJMUK Ltd can test and validate CVScene with real users while keeping the acquisition process controlled and proportionate.
We collect only the bounded information needed for that process. Your acceptance of the Founder Beta participation expectations records that you agree to those participation expectations; we do not rely on that checkbox as consent for processing your personal information.
How qualification and cohort selection work
Initial qualification uses fixed rules. For the current Founder Beta, you qualify for consideration for the first cohort if:
- you accept the Founder Beta participation expectations;
- you are applying for roles now or expect to start within one month; and
- you will apply for roles in English.
If you do not meet those rules, you are held on the early-access/waiting list rather than being automatically given product access.
Qualified applicants may then be selected for a controlled cohort using non-protected information supplied in the application, such as role/function, industry/domain, career stage, job market/location and application context, to create a useful mix of participants.
Selection is not first-come-first-served. We do not use AI to score Founder Beta applications, we do not use your CV for Gate A selection, and we do not select people using protected characteristics such as gender, ethnicity, health/disability or family status.
Qualifying or being selected does not itself grant CVScene product access. Product access is a separate release step.
Who receives your information
Your Founder Beta application is stored and processed using Railway, which provides CVScene's application hosting and PostgreSQL database infrastructure.
Privacy correspondence sent to privacy@cvscene.app is routed using Cloudflare Email Routing to an LJMUK Ltd-controlled mailbox. Cloudflare handles the email routing data and the contents of the message in transit as required to forward it.
When you apply, we send an email confirming that we received your application to the email address you give us, using Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc.), our email delivery provider. That email does not include your Founder Beta application answers.
If you ask us to delete your Founder Beta application using our online deletion page, we send a one-time confirmation link to the email address you give us using Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc.), our email delivery provider. Resend processes that email address, the message and related delivery records in order to send it. It does not receive your Founder Beta application answers.
Access within CVScene is restricted to the authorised Founder/admin people who need it to operate the Founder Beta. We do not sell Founder Beta application information or share it for another organisation's marketing.
The Founder Beta application answers are not sent to Anthropic or OpenAI for AI scoring or generation.
International transfers
CVScene's current beta application service and PostgreSQL database are configured in Railway's Amsterdam region. However, this does not mean all processing stays in the EEA.
Railway Corporation is based in the United States and its data-processing agreement states that its primary processing operations take place in the United States. LJMUK Ltd has entered into Railway's Data Processing Addendum, effective 7 October 2026. That agreement incorporates transfer safeguards including the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK Addendum, and provides for use of the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and UK Extension where applicable.
Cloudflare, Inc. operates a global service and privacy email routing may involve processing outside the UK/EEA. Cloudflare's data-processing terms provide transfer safeguards including the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and UK Addendum and provide for the Data Privacy Framework where applicable.
Plus Five Five, Inc. (Resend) is based in the United States and stores email records and logs in the United States. Its data-processing terms provide transfer safeguards including the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK Addendum, and provide for the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and UK Extension where applicable.
How long we keep your information
We keep your Founder Beta application while you are genuinely under consideration for the Founder Beta or CVScene early-access list.
If you are no longer being considered, your application will be deleted when the Founder Beta/early-access programme ends. We will not keep the programme nominally open simply to retain application data.
You may ask us to delete your Founder Beta application earlier. If LJMUK Ltd is required or otherwise lawfully justified to retain a narrowly defined record, we will retain only what is required or justified for that purpose.
Provider security, operational and backup records may follow the provider's own deletion/retention cycle rather than disappearing immediately when the primary CVScene application record is deleted.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances and applicable data-protection law, you may have rights to:
- ask for access to your personal information;
- ask us to correct inaccurate personal information;
- ask us to erase your personal information;
- ask us to restrict how we use your personal information; and
- object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
You have the right to object to our use of your Founder Beta application information where we rely on legitimate interests.
To exercise a privacy right or ask a question, email privacy@cvscene.app. We may take proportionate steps to verify that the request relates to you before disclosing, changing or deleting personal information.
A request concerning the Founder Beta acquisition record is not automatically a request to delete any separate CVScene account or product data you may have if product access is later released. Tell us if your request is intended to cover other CVScene data as well.
We will respond to rights requests within the time required by applicable data-protection law.
You also have the right to complain to the data-protection supervisory authority that applies to you. In the UK, this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). If you are in the EEA, you may contact the competent data-protection authority in your country.
Gate A and product access
This Founder Beta application process is Gate A: acquisition, qualification, cohort selection and early-access administration.
CVScene product access is Gate B and is separately controlled. Gate A does not create CandidateEvidence, analyse your CV or a vacancy, generate application documents, consume a product credit, or automatically grant product access.
